Known for its secluded beaches, spacious tropical estates, and wealthy residents, the upscale burg of Kahala is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world. 

Situated near Diamond Head, one of Hawaii’s most iconic natural landmarks, Kahala offers easy access to scenic hikes and nature exploration in and around the legendary crater. Kahala is also close to Koko Head, another favorite place for outdoor adventure, as well as the Honolulu Business District and all of the excitement and energy Waikiki,  has to offer. 

The Kahala Hotel and Resort adds to the luxurious vibe of the area, with its list of celebrity guests, five-star day spa and traditional afternoon tea. 

The Kahala Mall offers a variety of shopping and dining options as well as cultural experiences including lei making, live music, and Hula performance.

Kahala’s history dates back to the late 1700s, when the area was a booming locale for raising cattle. As the ranching era came to an end, the early 20th century brought with it a new interest in the area. Redevelopment began, the area slowly attracting a new crop of residents. 

Today Kahala is among Oahu’s most elite neighborhoods. It offers a great deal of convenience for locals and visitors alike. It’s located on the southern shore of Oahu, a 10-minute drive to Waikiki and only 20 minutes from the Honolulu International Airport. Kahala is also home to heiress Doris Duke’s famed Shangra La Center for Islamic Arts and Culture. Unlike other areas, Kahala is one of the few districts that is fairly flat. This quality makes its beaches even more ideal, ultimately increasing its appeal to home buyers and visitors alike.
